Boulderian Legionnaire

Concept art of a Boulderian Legionnaire. Also an attempt at experimenting with motion and some particles.

~The Boulderian Legion is the backbone and defender of the vast trade routes that make up the blasted wasteland that the Boulderian Empire sprawls across. Forged during the earliest days of the Boulderian Republic, the Legions were established as formal fighting forces that would command a set group of outposts along the various trade routes that criss-cross the Sun Kingdom. Each Legion would command one post, from which its numbers (split in to cohorts and centuries) would man the other outposts, each one spread out about a day from one another.
The Boulderian Legions are known for their staunch, unwavering discipline and a proud history of serving not just as the protectors of commerce, but also as great warriors. It was through the might of the Legions that the Boulderian Empire was able to sprawl and expand with almost childish ease. The Legions were among the first armies to be formalized in to a tradition of disciplined ranks and orders.
Unfortunately, the current state of the Boulderian Legions mirrors the very state of the Boulderian Empire itself. Years of relatively few wars have made the fighting men of the Legions lax and untested. While the Legions are still feared for their ferocity and have adopted guns in to their formations, they still lag behind greatly from even the most backwater nation. To many, the Boulderian Legions are but the old, decaying cane that is barely holding up the old man that is their once-proud empire. Despite this belief and the scoffs of younger generations, many veterans and stalwart defenders of the Sun Kingdom remain tall and proud in their faith. Though the Legions may be old and antiquated, their blades are never above being resharpened for battle once more.
